WLRN News | Multimedia Producer
As WLRN's multimedia producer, I'm responsible for WLRN's digital content during Morning Edition, and I assist in the radio production for newscasts. I populate our website using our CMS and help develop audience engagement strategies with our digital team.

When I help report and produce features highlighting the South Florida community, I look for stories like Hy Vong, an iconic Vietnamese restaurant with a cult following in Little Havana. I explain how the restaurant's legacy endures thanks to an unexpected friendship between two women.

VOICES Program | Fellow
Sage Kamiya didn't know he was different until he saw himself in the mirror. Kamiya is one of the descendants of the Yamato Colony, a Japanese agricultural community from the early 1900s.

In our podcast, Rooting Identity, my group members and I explored how those of the Asian American diaspora explored their identity and culture through agriculture.

For three months, I researched the history of the Yamato Colony and interviewed its descendants in order to craft this audio story. This project was made as part of the Asian American Journalist Association's VOICES program, a remote multimedia fellowship.

Video Storytelling | WUFT reporter
In spring 2018, I enrolled in a video storytelling course designed to teach advanced storytelling, shooting and editing techniques to create compelling visual narratives.  My classmates and I produced a 4-minute video about the owner of Rooterville, a pig sanctuary and the first pig that started it all. We told the story of Elaine West and her mission to care and rehabilitate pigs in Melrose, Florida. My role involved project management, editing, video production and reporting.

The Alligator | Crime Reporter

My work at this independent student newspaper has been one of my most challenging, rigorous experiences. Starting off as a general assignment reporter, I’ve covered everything from local elections, environmental issues to hurricane coverage. Later, I became the paper's crime reporter. I wrote at least 30 crime briefs and covered police politics in the city of Gainesville and Alachua County.

Sparks Magazine | Editor-in-chief

Sparks Magazine, an Asian American magazine based at the University of Florida, provides a multimedia platform to elevate the voices of Asian Americans and the issues affecting our community. I’ve been a part of this publication for four years starting as a staff writer. Over the years, I’ve risen the ranks to content editor, managing editor to editor-in-chief.  I was in charge of managing digital content and overseeing  the creative direction of the magazine. As editor-in-chief, I pushed the boundaries of our design and content to reflect the complex perspectives facing those of the Asian American diaspora.
